Isamu Noguchi originally designed this lamp originally for his little sister, and was later manufactured by Knoll in 1944. The design is one of his early forays into lighting design; the lamp is simple, modern and elegant. The three-legged Cylinder Lamp is an elegant unity of shade and base.
Later the AKARI lighting sculptures were to become his best-known lighting designs. The line was so successful that Knoll Inc. eventually ended production because of the number of inexpensive imitations.
Uses up to 75 watt candelabra base bulb. |
