Hypnotic ~ modern ~ minimalist ~ inspiring ~ relaxing ~ kinda weird, but in a good way ~
All the above were comments from our office staff and visitors the day we reviewed Random by Japanese designer/musician Kouichi Okamoto. My own personal review? Well, I have never heard anything like this before, it is not only a fresh approach to music as we know it, it is a relaxing and hypnotizing project of sound engineering, and my new favorite CD to listen to when I need to concentrate and be creative.
Play Random on your CD player using the random (shuffle) function. Random will chaotically select random tones, and new melodies result. If the random and repeat functions are used simultaneously, a new melody will play endlessly, never the same way twice. Random has 99 tones included in the 99 tracks. The result is eerily reminiscent of an ancient Japanese instrument, with an electronic edge.
This CD is meant to be used on random play mode only. Please make sure that your CD player has a random function. The interval of sound will change depending on the CD player. |
